Round 10 2017 v Smythesdale
It’s out to Linton for the second time in a month today to face Smythesdale, with todays showpiece game featuring the Reserves. Smythesdale have been a competitive unit in the Reserves in 2017 and with both teams locked on 5 wins a piece this shapes as a key clash in the race for the 8.
Last week the Seniors took three quarters before shaking off a dogged Clunes who were commendable in Bobby Hind’s 200th game. Big Dave Benson continued his outstanding season to be best on ground again whilst Pyke, Murphy and Sheridan all put in decent shifts.
The Reserves, severely undermanned came up against and even more undermanned Clunes but to their credit were able to string together one of their better performances of the year to move back into the 8. Club Treasurer Matt MacDonald turned back the clock with a fine performance at CHF whilst Jed Bilney showed plenty in the ruck.
The U18 lads came up against strong Magpies outfit and were unfortunately beaten comprehensively, as were the U15s. The U12’s started the day off with a thriller however, registering an after the siren win with some serious scenes!
On the courts we saw a game that could only be described as a classic for neutrals, but one that got away for the Bungaree faithful. Poppy Douglas was the Dees best in the draw. C Grade still leads the way for the Dees atop the CHNL ladder after 9 rounds whilst all other sides occupy spots in the top 6.
A massive thankyou to senior captain Jackson Murphy and his band of helpers for organising what was a very successful Reverse Raffle last week.
The Comedy Night with Melbourne comedians Des Dowling, CJ Fortuna and Brad Oakes is next up after the home game v Learmonth next week June 24. Don’t miss out on what will be a hilarious night!
