Round 2 2017 v Beaufort

Its down the Western Highway to Beaufort today in what will be an early season 8-point game. The Crows seem to have consolidated over the off season so a four quarter effort will be required to come away with the points.

Last weekend was a good start to the season for the Senior boys, with a 7 goal to 1 first term all but ending the contest fro m the outset. Joel and Luke Mirtschin booted 12 between them in what is a hopefully a sign of things to come whilst skipper Jackson Murphy started the season off brilliantly with a best on ground performance. Dave Benson took away the very first Henry Spratling Medal with a dominant display in the ruck.

An undersized Reserves outfit took three and a half quarters to grind out a win over Dunnstown but fitness showed in the end with the Dees’ recording an 11 point win in what was a tense and exciting, if not very pretty game of Two’s footy.

The U18’s were severely undermanned but put in a valiant effort to go down by 93 points; Lachie Arnts was the Demons best. The U15’s look like they’ll be a slick unit once they gel together this year but went down by 28 points to the Towners with Brenton Devereux showing he is a player of the future to be best on ground. The U12’s put in a mighty effort but ultimately fell 2 goals short; youngster Ned Pengelly was the Demons best.

On the courts it was a successful start to the season with wins in 5 of the 6 grades and only the A Grade falling short. The 9-goal loss was a pretty decent effort against an impressive Dunnstown that many are tipping to go on with it this year; Emma Hills was outstanding to be the Demons best. Ellen Mason and Molly Binks were the best players respectively in big wins for the B and c Grade whilst Charlotte Todd, Molly Ryan and Sophie Boyd were the best players in the wins for U17, U15 and U13 sides.
