Finals Week 1

The 2017 Season has come and gone and we now enter the month where legends are born and champions are made.

Our Senior footballers lead the charge on Sunday with an Elimination Final showdown with Gordon at Waubra. The Eagles had the better of the Dees 3 weeks ago but the Dees should be confident with a few faces returning and our kids better for the experience that they can match it with one of the leagues better sides.

The A Grade netball will take on Waubra on Saturday at Dunnstown in what shapes as a good clash. The Dees have hit form in the back half of the season and will look to put in a good September showing.

Our B, C, U17 and U15 netballers will all play Qualifying finals and will aim to earn the week off whilst our U13’s take on Smythesdale for a place in next week’s semi finals.

Last weekend we wrapped up the season with a 43 point win in the Seniors, Dave Benson capping off his stellar season with yet another best on ground. Matt Geary played a great game, as did Murphy, Sheridan and Morgan.

The Ressies put out a side that had 7 first gamers for the year and aside from a 10 minute patch in the third competed well against the Blues. The highlight was undoubtedly a sausage roll from the great Heath Boyd.

Our U18 side went down heavily to one of the flag contenders. Well done boys on sticking it out through a tough year and hopefully we see you all back next year, be that in senior or junior footy.

The U12’s recorded a terrific come from behind win after what has been a pretty good second half of the season.

The A Grade were outstanding in their win over Ballan and will head into the finals full of confidence after a big couple of weeks. All other grades except the U13’s who fell narrowly went onto record wins and hit the finals with winning form.

Keep an eye out for details regarding the Marquee Night and McGuane Medal in the coming weeks on the website and social media.
